Amazon Rainforest
Increased temperatures and inconsistent rainfall in the Amazon Rainforest, a once vibrant and diverse ecosystem, is threatening the wildlife that live in it. This rainforest acts as a carbon sink, meaning it helps absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. However, deforestation is prohibiting the rainforest’s capability to store carbon dioxide, which allows it to stay in the atmosphere and continue exacerbating the greenhouse effect.
