The Berrien County Historical Association was established in 1967 to preserve the 1839 County Courthouse, the oldest of its kind in Michigan. Since then we've grown to include four other buildings that are known collectively known as The History Center at Courthouse Square. Visitors to our grounds can explore the Murdock Cabin, the fourth oldest building in Michigan; dive deep into our history through temporary exhibits inside the 1870 Sheriff's Residence; experience hands-on history inside Bennett's Forge; and in the future, walk the halls of the 1860/1873 Records Building.
We are open Wednesdays through Sundays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and our admission is free. We are open Memorial and Labor Day, closed on New Years's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve. Find us online at www.berrienhistory.org.
