The Mind Museum of Hilde

Welcome to the Mind Museum of Hilde, showcasing my two-year journey through Career and Academic Skills within the MSc Neuroscience at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This collection reflects my growth in career planning, project management, communication, and openness in science.

At the heart of the museum stands the Major Project, where my enthusiasm for neuroscience met science communication. Organising an event that translates research for the public showed me how much I value connecting science with society, and inspired me to pursue similar projects in the future. Surrounding exhibits, my PDP, CV, and workshops taught me to plan critically, evaluate strengths and weaknesses, and zoom out to consider both near-term and long-term goals.

A clear red thread runs through all exhibits: the importance of openness and transparency. Tailoring communication to different audiences, creating open science materials, and engaging in feedback cycles all reinforced that science is most valuable when shared and discussed. Looking back, this museum captures a researcher in progress—curious, reflective, and committed to making science accessible. Looking forward, it also points to the researcher I aspire to become: confident in my skills, thoughtful in my choices, and eager to contribute meaningfully to both scientific and public understanding.
