We often think about our highly globalized world today as unique in the span of human history, but we overlook the fact that the ancient world was just as connected in many ways. Peoples were not necessarily isolated, but they traded, communicated, and had relationships with each other over long distances. This manifests in the many of the artifacts they left behind, and using them we can begin to reconstruct how different groups were connected. In this museum, we showcase a small handful of objects that testify of this high level of globalization, including artifacts from the Aegean, the Near East, and Egypt. We hope you enjoy this journey as we find out together just how connected and complicated the world was in the ancient past.
