𐒷𐓊𐒻 is an Osage verb or adverb that means "to be present here/there" or "in that place." This exhibit represents (a White Missourian researcher's best attempt at conveying in a culturally responsive manner) the history alongside continued existence - the contemporary identity and presence - of the Indigenous peoples of the Missouri-Kansas border region. Modern Indigenous peoples continue to assert their identity amidst historical and cultural erasure. This exhibit aims at education and expression, so that the people who currently inhabit the Missouri-Kansas border region can be aware of the people whose ancestral lands we are occupying.
