Birds of the Mughal Empire
This exhibit focuses on the imagery of birds in the Mughal Empire through Ustad Mansur’s work under the Emperor Jahangir. Each of the five works on display explores the birds' meaning in the Mughal Empire, exploring science, culture, and the relationship between artist and patron. Mansur’s ability to represent these animals was highly celebrated at the time, and they are still appreciated today for their anatomical accuracy and artistry. This exhibition seeks to highlight these folios’ cultural importance
